Happy New Year to everyone!! Here’s hoping that 2010 will be your best year ever!
It’s recording time! Next week we’re going into the studio to start recording our second cd. That’s what we’ll be mainly focused on the next couple of months. Ema’s hand is feeling much better, I’m all settled into my new home, so we’re ready to get back to work.
Our new cd will have 10 new original songs written by ema and me. Lance Davis and John Swanson will be back on bass and drums and we’re planning on having several guest musicians contributing on the cd as well. Busy times again and it’s all good!
More later!

Merry Christmas. The holidays are almost over already and I must admit, I’m anxious for 2010 to begin. 2009 has been an extremely eventful year for me personally....I’ve reconnected with my dear sister and brother-in-law, her children and her beautiful grandchildren, what an enormous joy that has been for me. My son married his sweetheart Janna this past Spring and in late summer I purchased a new home - oh yes, and I can’t forget, my darling Bianca passed her driving test and is now a licensed driver - watch out : )

What a year it’s been and what a great year we have to look forward to. My heartfelt wishes to all of you for a safe holiday filled with love.
Gotta go finish my shopping,

WOW... time just flew by! So many wonderful events these past few months that just kept us super-busy!
Just to mention a few... In July, the Harmony on the River concert at River Walk Park was fantastic! Great crowd and event for the whole family. Sold lots of cds!
We also headlined at the PowerHouse Pub for a Sacramento Blues Society Membership Drive. Always time well spent to lend our services to a great cause for our blues community... and we sold more cds!
We also did a little stint at Borders in Folsom... we always enjoy performing there — nice crowd, great stressless opportunity to work on some new material... and to sell more cds!
In August, a big highlight of the summer was performing at the Live on the Boulevard - Concert Under the Stars at the El Dorado Hills Town Center! What a huge crowd - so supportive... the only reason we stopped performing was because it got dark — we could've played all night! AND, we sold tons of cds that evening!!
Next was a benefit for Elk Grove's "Walk of the Arts" — a great cause for Meg's Place. Wonderful art, lovely, casual day, great food... if you missed it this year... be sure to be a part of this great cause next year.
Then a big personal highlight for me was the privilege of performing at the 7th Annual Women Sing the Blues with Lara Price, Dana Moret, and Leah Tysse! Wow — talk about female power — what an honor it was for me to stand alongside and sing with these extraordinary, talented ladies... with a top-notch band backing us up too! Ema and I also performed an acoustic version of one of our originals!
Well, it just wouldn't be a proper end to the summer without sitting in with one of my best friends of the blues and biggest supporters of my original music — Mick Martin. Ema and I sat in with Mick, Bruce, Obie, Jimmy and Donna at the State Fair. These gentlemen (and lady) have always been so wonderful and gracious to us. They've all become such good friends and mentors. I'm SO lucky to have their love, respect and support and my feeling for all of them is SOOOO mutual.
Well... it's time for the band to take a pause and get ready to go into the studio again to record our second cd. Lots of work to do, orchestrating, arranging, rehearsals, etc. We hope to have a few surprises on this cd (meaning a few guest stars!). We have a lot of great, new material we're excited about... so we'll keep you posted in the upcoming months how the new cd is coming along... We also plan on having our new christmas song, "You Aint Gettin' Nuttin' (cause you're not on santa's list)" available on CDbaby before Thanksgiving.
We'll try to sneak in a couple more engagements before the holidays... but you know how I am... I'm a busy, busy girl during these seasons to make merry. .. and this will be a special holiday season for me and my family and "dearest friends" — and I am so looking forward to it!
Hope to see each of you again soon at a future engagement!

As we expected, May was pretty busy for all of us. My son’s wedding was wonderful! I’m so happy for them and their new life together. Our performance on Channel 31 was great fun! Everyone there at the station was so nice and helpful to us. Many of you saw our performance and emailed us some very nice comments — and we love that!! Shortly thereafter we did five performances at the Jazz Festival (John Q’s, Riverfront Refuge, Laugh’s Unlimited, Freeway Gardens and the Turntable Junction). Every venue was unique and filled with enthusiasm throughout the audience. One of the highlights — as always — was sitting in with Mick Martin and the Bluesrockers at their All Star Jam at the Freeway Gardens!
The following week we performed at SAC City College for the 2nd Annual Homeless Connect event. This is a wonderful event that provides services for people in need. They have an incredible staff of volunteers serving food, providing placement services, haircuts, bicycle repair, medical care and much more.
Summer is just about upon us and we have some fun shows to look forward to. June 26 I’ll be belting out

We’re slowly making plans for going into the studio again this fall/winter to record our next cd! Speaking of that, I’ve got to get back to my songwriting.
Hope to see you at our next engagement !!

Happy Spring!
I'm always amazed at how fast the time goes between my blogs. Here it is May already - let me try to bring you up-to-date.
February brought us some sad news with Matt Kaiser, our keyboard player, techie master and piano teacher departing from the band. Matt is taking a leave of absence, and we hope he'll be back. His "real" job, as I call it, has taken him away from us - sending him on a regular basis to and from Alaska. I'm happy to say that I hear from him regularly and he's managed to stay warm and always cheerful. Matt's contributions to the music, to the success of the band and to each of us as our friend, cannot be measured. We miss you, Matt!
March and April brought some unique opportunities to us. I received an invitation to audition to sing the National Anthem at a future River Cats game. I auditioned, and they put me on the calendar for Friday June 26. In April, the band performed at the Gene Chamber's Benefit hosted by the Sacramento Blues Society. The event was held at the Power House Pub in Folsom and we had a blast trying out some

We've got so much ahead for the month of May. On a personal note, my son will be marrying his sweetheart in just a couple weeks. Immediately following (May 21), the band and I will be making a guest - live appearance on Channel 31's Good Day Sacramento show. Then we're off to the Jazz Jubilee for all of Memorial Day Weekend (5 engagements). We'll be wrapping up this busy month with a benefit show for the Homeless Connect Project. Our summer calendar is quickly filling up so keep an eye out for us, we'll be all over town and we sure would love to see you!
I'll be back soon with an update of our summer schedule and other exciting events to come.
Much love,

Happy new year and here's to making and keeping resolutions!
Yes, like so many of you, exercise, eating right and generally taking better care of myself is at the top of my list; however, 2009 has my sights set on lots of new material (song writing), performances and in particular, the upcoming Jazz Jubilee on Memorial Day Weekend! We can hardly wait to get out to see all of you.
Ema and I have been pretty busy working on new material — for those of you who caught our live performance last weekend (1/25) on KVMR 89.5, Blues Spectrum with Steve Cagle (in the photo with me and Ema at the KVMR studio), we thank you for your support. We had a blast. We introduced four new tunes “live” — no do-overs.... it was a bit stressful for me but so much fun! Guess I'm kind of a glutton for that kind of challenge! Ema rocked as usual - and even sang one of the songs with me... I've received great feedback on that

Speaking of which, he and I will be out and about this year performing as a duo (LB-LITE) in some of your local coffee houses and possibly a book store here and/or there.... keep an eye on our "where I'm at" page for updates. You know, I think I hear my treadmill calling — so I gotta run - - keep the resolutions alive! Look forward to seeing you soon!
much love,
—LB
