matt kaiser, keyboards, saxophone — linda bracamonte band

Matthew Kaiser, keyboards for Linda BracamonteThe truth may set me free, but the rock keeps me young! The truth is I'm not young, but I feel free to remain 21 in the brain! Doing this "band" thing all the time is what I want to do when I grow up. Maybe someday I'll grow up, but right now I just rock whenever I can to take the edge off the gray.

I have this one recurring dream about eating pizza while the pizza parlor and the town around it burns down. It's really good pizza, the best I've ever had. I guess I won't let go of that taste for anything. Just as that dream won't go away, I can't seem to let go of the need to play, sing, express and entertain. So whatever happens, I'll rock on!

If "rockin' the dream" is the pizza, then the fire must be Time. Or it could be my day job. I engineer software all day... OK, I play in front of a computer for 8 hours. I've turned a music degree into a programming company that I own, so it's probably not as bad as a fire, maybe just the smoke that chokes the time out of me one day at a time. Ooh, that sounds depressing. Regardless, I like what I do, and keeping up with changing technology is another catalyst to continue the quest for my youth fountain. And if I can find that fountain, I can help put out the fire!

Along the path to that personal water feature, I've fiddled around with just about every instrument, except a fiddle. Never could figure out how to keep the horse still so I could drag its tail across the strings. But I have played other instruments enough to teach them to fourth thru eighth graders. I never could settle down with just one instrument, or career. You know, I gotta try all those variations of pizza. And as with all those pizza joints, there are a lot of bands out there.

I think the Linda Bracamonte Band and I chose each other. "I've been searchin' so long," to borrow a lyric from my favorite band, for a new favorite band to be a part of. I love the music we embrace, and the embryonic originals are the youthful yin to the classics' yang. It's hard to decide, to settle on, a favorite Ema tune.

I have been able, however, to be more than settled at home. My college sweetheart and I have been married for 24 years and have enjoyed 66 years of 4 children! Ugh, I need to rock some more right now to feel young again!
