ema roberts, lead guitarist — linda bracamonte band
- music.
it taught me how to receive love and how to express it.
it gave me the courage to stand alone.
it helped me to realize that my needs are simple
and that the way i love is simple.
it brought me closer to my family and my heritage
and introduced me to lifelong friends.
it is here where i learned that the notes you play in life
aren’t nearly as important as the feelings behind them.
it is here that i think of you and how fortunate i have been
to have heard your voice and to have touched your heart.

Recorded 2008 — Do You Fall In Love Often © 2008 (john kovarek) This is a very entertaining CD of 111 poems by Louis Cannizzaro, all represented uniquely through the artistic production of John Kovarek. It is always an extraordinary experience to be a part of anything creative John is involved with. It was a pleasure to perform the guitar on a couple of the tracks on this CD — especially the “blues” guitar backing underneath Motown Hall of Fame, Harvey Fuqua’s reading (this performance is at the end of the sample link above). Axe info: 1990’s Fender Strat w/maple neck, JB noiseless pickups; Johnson J-Station Amp Module. Credits: ema roberts-lead guitar on last “blues” club track w/Harvey Fuqua reading; Go to John Kovarek’s website for all the info on his CD - www.kovarek.com CD cover artwork by louis cannizzaro, graphic design by ema roberts.

Recorded 1986 — I Am The Walrus JK (Golden Reel Award for his engineering work w/Donna Summer), did a superb job producing this one! This is my Hendrix arrangement of this Beatles classic. The guitar solo at the end was overdubbed (first take), and the other guitar part is played live all the way through with Hendrix-style octaves. Axe info: 80's Fender Strat w/maple neck, stock pickups; studio delay; cry baby wah; Mesa Boogie MK-II combo. Credits: ema roberts-lead guitar, bass, alesis drums, lead vocal, John Lennon voice, arranger; Maureen & Bruce Terry-keyboards; John Kovarek (photo)-producer/engineer. Photo by Penny Castle.

Recorded 1980 — Local Heroes © 1980 (maureen terry) I had the privilege of writing and recording with Maureen for five years and performing with her for almost 10 years. Maureen is a superb songwriter, vocalist, and keyboardist. This is my favorite tune that we wrote together. Axe info: Yamaha FG-375 acoustic; 70's Boogie-Body Strat w/rosewood neck, d'marzio pickups; e-bow; Fender Super Reverb combo, studio delay. Credits: ema roberts-E-bow lead guitar, acoustic, producer/arranger; Maureen Terry (photo)-vocals, keyboards; John Kovarek-engineer. Photo by ema roberts.

Recorded 1998 - Heads in Mississippi/Magic Carpet Ride This was just an all out jam up against the wall. I love this medley because this is Kris and Jack in their element. Jack would always start off a song with a percussive clue, then it would take me a few minutes to figure out what the hell he was doing. Then I'd start the wrong song, or realize I didn't remember the intro, so I'd fool around until I did... then we're off! I never knew what transitions these guys were going to take me through. I just tightened my guitar strap and held on!! Axe info: 70's Ibanez strat w/maple neck, Seymour Duncan pickups; boss delay; boss octavia; bad horsie wah; Mesa Boogie MK-IV combo w/ext. speaker. Recorded 1997 — Redhouse Another take on probably the best blues song of the 60’s. Axe info: 1956 Fender Strat w/maple neck, Fender Texas & Seymour Duncan JB pickup; boss delay; Mesa Boogie MK-IV combo w/ext. cabinet. Credits: ema roberts-lead guitar; kris king-bass, lead vocal; jack watson-drums. Photo by Nancy Stegemann.

Recorded 1985 — Rebel Yell I was asked if I had a recording of me smashing about one of my guitars — well, this is it! Axe info: 80's Fender Strat w/rosewood neck, stock pickups; Roland echo, TS-powersoak, Mesa Boogie MK-II combo. Recorded 1983 — Goodbye Pork Pie Hat I specifically remember this night. I broke the whammy bar off my guitar in a previous song, plus my beloved roland echo died. So I was mad during this whammyless-kareoke performance of JB's version of a Charlie Mingus classic. I put this guitar through the wall at the end of the night. Axe info: 70's Fender Strat w/maple neck, stock pickups; TS-powersoak; Mesa Boogie MK-II combo. Credits: ema roberts-lead guitar; Stephen Johnson-bass; Don Frerichs-keyboards; Michael Weiland-drums. Recorded 1985 — Cus We’ve Ended As Lovers My mother used to call this the “whale song” because she thought the guitar sounded like a whale crying under the water. I really enjoyed playing this one, I wish I still did. Axe info: 80's Fender Strat w/rosewood neck, stock pickups; Roland echo, TS-powersoak, Mesa Boogie MK-II combo. Credits: ema roberts-lead guitar, lead vocal; Maureen Terry-keyboards; Stephen Johnson-bass; Ron Robertson-drums. Photo by ema roberts.
